Wake the f%$@ up samurai, we got a city to bomb

APS? Guided cruise missiles? Drones?

With each years April fools, Gaijin tries to create unique and fun events for the player base to enjoy. And this year is no different, ranging from futuristic tanks and drones to a 90's cartoon throwback. In this article we will pay attention to the former, the WarFare 2077 event. 

What did we get this time?

Like previous times, Gaijin is probably doing this event to test out new game mechanics and this is likely the case with this event as well. With these futuristic vehicles they introduced a whole lot of new game mechanics. I'll start off with the most likely thing to get added from this test. The Active Protection Systems (APS for short). While these vehicles are made 50 years in the future, the tech of APS is already here and used in the battlefield by countries such as the United States, China, Russia and Isreal. One well matured system is called the Trophy system in use by Isreal. The soviets had been experimenting with hard-kill APS systems since the 1980's with the Drozd system and now are mounting the Афганит sytem to their T-14 Armata tanks. This will no doubt be an interesting feature to come!

Active Camouflage

Another mechanic that is new is Active Camouflage on ground vehicles. While this tech is still unreliable and in the testing phase in some companies, there have been various tests like the Adaptiv system, although these tests could very well be faked for now. One thing for sure is that we wont see this technology adapted into War Thunder any time soon. 

Electronic Magnetic Pulse (EMP)

While this was probably just to make the gamemode a bit more entertaining, Electronic Warfare in general could see its way into War Thunder with the addition of more and more advanced weapons systems that rely on their complex electronic systems to work. Drones getting jammed? Radar getting confused? We just have to wait and see.
